About Newport Beach
With a beautiful stretch of beach fronting the Pacific, and a large, sheltered bay sprinkled with islands, Newport Beach is an ideal destination for anyone who loves the water.
Newport Harbor is one of the west coast’s largest recreational boat harbors, perfect for sailing, paddle-boarding, rowing and kayaking, and there are myriad opportunities for visitors to enjoy all these activities. Sportfishing is wildly popular here, and chartered ocean fishing excursions allow participants to haul in sea bass, halibut, tuna, yellowtail and many others.
The northern portion of Newport Bay comprises the pristine, 1,000-acre Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve and Ecological Reserve. This coastal wetland is recognized as one of the finest bird watching sites in North America. The Upper Newport Bay Muth Interpretive Center serves as an excellent starting point to explore the park.
The beach at Newport Beach is repeatedly named one of the country’s cleanest. It’s a magnet for boogie boarders, surfers, castle builders and sunbathers. As the name suggests, Ocean Front Boulevard fronts the beach; take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk to shops, restaurants, and the Newport Pier.
